Vinted Members Share Anger Over Size Changes
Shoppers are voicing their frustration after an update resulted in listings displaying inaccurate size information.
The second-hand shopping app has revised its measurement guidelines for female and kids' apparel without notifying every member regarding the update.
Online Platforms Response
Countless users and merchants are posting online stating that platform listings now display an altered size classification versus the original listing due to the recalibration.
The platform stated the revised method more closely matches comparable marketplaces.
They have suggested members to check their listings and adjust the sizing manually if necessary, resulting in member annoyance.
Sizing System Modifications
Before the change, the sizes had both a single numeric size and a letter, like S/8 or M/10.
The new system has a letter with a size spectrum like S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the sizing has been recategorised - for example a size L used to be a 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
User Accounts
One content creator, who creates plus-size fashion videos, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
Stephanie Gallen, based in Glasgow, explained products she uploaded with size 14 tags were appearing on the platform as measurements 20-22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they may become frustrated," she explained.
Manual Updates
Charlotte Lunn, located in England, said she had been left angered because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizes on "every single listing".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, as I'm chronically ill and Vinted sales have been crucial following partial earnings loss," she explained.
Marketplace Information
The platform boasts over 100 million members, with 18 million British users.
It has emerged as a preferred choice to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time when a surprising modification on the platform has faced criticism: previously, Vinted reversed a change concerning shipment methods after backlash from users.
